Wow has it really been over a year since my last post? My sincere apologies people! 2011 was a year filled with joy, agony and everything in between. I'd done some things that I'm really proud about, and there are some that I sorta regret. If I was any younger, I'd probably say things like "I would do it all over again.". But I'm not getting any younger and at my age I just want to look to the future and see what gives, you know? To look upon the new year and think about things I could do differently from the last. Explore new avenues and tear down old walls. Build new bridges and collapse others. Ahh the ramblings of a 22 year old.

This blog has served me since 09 and last year saw the random birth of a new one, partly due to academic reasons. I needed to host a web blog for a couple of subjects under a new email ID which happens to now be my current email ID(adriangradinkotan@gmail.com). So while I was typing myself to oblivion on those blogs it occurred to me spontaneously that I should create a new blog, for the heck of it. Hence, the arrival of Thoughts Through Fingertips. I’ve been posting there throughout 2011 so I’m here to tell you that for all me-related updates, that’s where you should head to from now on. What of this blog then? Well yes I’ve heard the calls for the axe to swing down on it, but personally I want to keep this blog up and running. Contentwise, nothing personal here,but it’ll be moving towards the direction of my band, Black Light Banquet. Come on, even the name of the blog fits. So there you have it, Tales from the banquet table will serve as your go-to blog to update you on everything BLB or our music projects and behind the scenes. I’ll keep you peeps posted. The Road Less Taken

I'm sick of people telling you what's the best for you when they don't know squat about squid. Best way to go is always on your own sometimes. And in this case, it's the pedals I'm after! Forum after forum, video after video, guitarists and musicians alike has been telling me to go get those Boss D1 and Metal Zone pedals, because for the level I'm at and the budget I have, it's a no brainer. Well I've done my own tireless research into the matter and have found the cheapest possible alternative to my solution.

Danelectro Pedals.

Haha well not exactly. It's been around wherever I've been browsing so I kept it in the back of my head and when it came down to price, nothing beats these. See, yes I do agree Boss will beat the crap out of these hands down when it comes down to quality and tone, but I'm sacrificing them for the price. It's dirt cheap. Plus, after having watched a few demo and sound videos of the damned things on youtube, I'm convinced that these Danelectro FAB pedals are just as good and convenient as most pedals out there, not including Boss ones and others of that level. So behold, the cheapest looking, odd-colored, fragile looking pedals you will ever see!

Yup and there they are. As cheap looking as they are, I want them for that reason alone. Cheap. Before I get to the price, lets talk about it. The black on is the classic metal looking sounding pedal. After watching reviews, it does offer a lot of twang and tone but my only concern is that it isn't true bypass. Other than that, I'd love a metal pedal to compliment the distortion and wah wah and what not.

The red one is distortion, obviously. Told you I couldn't live without it. After hearing it in action, I'm pretty stoked about getting this at that particular price. Hang on, I'm getting to that. However my only concern about this pedal is the same as the first. True bypass. I'll check with Bentleys in a few days. Okay, now let's get to the price. What caught my attention to these babies you ask?

Well, both pedals come in at RM 85.

Yeah I love doing this. Making wishlists and drooling over stuff I'm never sure I'll even get in the future. With the economy in such a turmoil and my allowances facing the credit crunch, as unfortunately enough for me, I do not come from a family a with deep pocket. Therefore, I dream the small boy's dream =) Here goes!

A new guitar with a pretty balanced mix of effects pedals is what I'm after right now, having been gigging' ( never knew it was even a word!) for almost 2 years plus with my band, Black Light Banquet. Experiences have told me that as guitarists, or musicians for that matter, we should always come prepared. I remember my first gig outside of school. It was that JROCK thing we got into thanks to Ryan. We got there, and started setting up, and only then I realized that the amp I got wasn't a combo, therefore it had only a clean channel. I was fucked, but hey I was saved by a guy called David who lent me his multi-effect processor. Since then, I bought my own mini-multi effect, the Zoom G2. It has served me well with a variety of effects, though I'm bloody boring and only used the distortion for 90% of the gigs. Anyways, my G2 is dying. It sounds too fuzzy and it eats AA batteries like the cookie monster with a serious case of the munchies.

So with the upcoming GLAM in mind....

BLB will be playing at SOULed Out in Sri Hartamas on Xmas Eve, 9.15 pm. Covering songs from Glee, Christmas songs and even an acapella session with other bands and my friends. Yay =)

..... I decided that a fresh start would be required , guitar effects-wise. See, i'm not a technical guitarist. I love solo-ing sure, but can't complete one for nuts. Minor Pentatonic scale is like what I'm pro at. lol. I also chug away in drop D for riffs most of the time, but I see my band's musical direction being more diverse come 2011, therefore I need a new arsenal of effects. Keeping in mind that I'm going to claim cash for my good results, a well performed show at GLAM plus my xmas and birthday moneys, I think I have a chance! so! let me show you people what I want!

Okay. Let us finally begin, with a showcase of what I currently have, or my current rig at home per-say.

I'm currently using a China made fake branded amp called Viking, 30 watts. I won't even post a picture cause I'm ashamed I actually do own that piece of shit, which is also dying. So moving on to my current main battle axe. The Epiphone SG Emily. I love her to death.

There she is. I think I'll be playing her for a long long time to come. However, I do want a second auxiliary axe.

And here's the G2. I appreciate all the distorted fun it has given me, but I'm going to need more.

So that about completes my line-up at home. Pathetic huh. Yeah. Okay so you get my drift now. I want another guitar, amp and effect pedals. Lets look at the potential suitors.

1) Sexy Axey

These are my two contenders. Both are ESP guitars, which is rad. Both are the latest Eclispse-2 models, just that the one to the right looks more badass and has a tremolo system, which is uniquely rare, plus it uses Seymour Duncan pickups compared to the one on the left which uses EMG active pickups. So let me explain why I have these two in mind. Firstly, I just love the single-cut away Les Paul type models and these two look like tuxedos. Beautiful. Also, I want a guitar that can dish out lots of heavy gain without losing the tone. Both are made of mahgony thus it has the incredible sustain to beat too. I can't wait to palm mute on this baby XD.

This lil' baby is not all quiet and timid. She has built-in effects to boot plus the classic two channel switcher from clean to distortion, which is what I WANT in my amps. This will be a great sounding amp for practice at home, and will definitely bring out the best of my guitars as it compliments them perfectly.

Okay time to get into the effects section.

To store the pedals at home or on stage, I'll need a pedal board. Pretty much self explanatory. =)

And once I have the board, I'll need to a constant and reliable power supply to power up the pedals, no longer relying on DARN BATTERIES. So, meet....

Yeah. So as you can see, the Pedal Power allows me to power up 6 pedals at once on my board. Nice. =)

Now that I have my power, starting the line-up on the board from right to left is one of the most recognized pedals in the musical world. It's the classic Original Wah Pedal by Dunlop.

And this is it. I will be able to make my lil' lead parts on whatever song I play sound just...awesome. =D

Moving on, the next to will be an ABSOLUTE MUST for me, as I rely super heavily on distortion for heavy rock tunes. Here they are..

Both gives me a boost of distortion and metal leads for a nice warm ' fuck you' gain. I likes very muchies.

Meet the Polyphonic Octave Generator! Both of them are awesome, just that the mini is well, cut down in range. Both have the ability to make the guitar sound like a bass, 12 string, 18 string guitar or even an organ! Brilliant huh? Yes.

Arsenal vs. West Ham October 30th 2010 Performance Review

Any Arsenal fan will tell you that after watching the match, two words come to mind. Relief and uncertainty. On paper the match looked one-sided and well known local pundits ( Paul Masefield and Shebby Singh ) tipped Arsenal to storm to a 3-0, 4-0 victories. However as we all know, that wasn't the case. Arsenal hosted the Hammers at the Emirates having the better run of form over their London rivals. Arsenal had previously won away at Manchester City last week and grinded out a tough fought 1-0 over a pesky Birmingham team. West Ham are at the bottom of the league with no form whatsoever. Avram Grant may tell the world that given the right time, confidence and luck his players may shine but they faced an uphill task as the Gunners looked to bag all 3 points at home to catch up with runaway league leaders Chelsea. Arsene Wenger on the other hand came into the match beaming at his almost fully strengthened squad list, having been able to call upon the no longer injured Nicklas Bendtner and Theo Walcott who shone in midweek. So how would this match conclude?

REPORT

The matched kicked off with a drizzle, making the already perfect Emirates pitch slick enough for quick passing which Arsenal used to their advantage. The opening quarter saw Arsenal dominate possession as usual and should have been at least 2-0 up when Song headed over and both Arshavin and Fabregas had clear cut chances saved by Robert Green in the West Ham goal. However, there was cause for concern as West Ham did look dangerous on the counter-attack and so nearly went ahead themselves when Jamie Noble raced away from the Arsenal midfield and had a shot on goal, which represents the Hammer's best chance of the half. Half time shortly followed and even as I was viewing the match on television, I could sense the uneasy-ness surrounding the Emirates. Fans must be wondering, what on earth is going on? Second half begin more brightly for the home side as they pushed forward to find that elusive goal. Once again Arshavin came close and Samir Nasri so nearly scored a cracker when he smashed a 25 yard free kick onto the bar. Theo Walcott soon came on to loud cheers and applause from the Arsenal faithful as many see him as the potential savior on this frustrating afternoon. And he nearly ended the home side's frustration. Fabregas threaded a through ball out to Walcott on the right who simply whizzed by the left back at ease and was one on one with the goalkeeper. However his shot hit the post and deflected back into the goalie's arms. What a lucky stroke for Robert Green. Green made two further saves from both Walcott and Fabregas and when the clock showed the match going deep into the end of normal time, I had my heart in my mouth and I thought it was going to be another case of us unable to put away the lesser sides. Sometimes, patience and faith are crucial in football. Around the 88th minute, Gael Clichy the Arsenal left back dummied a cross and cut inside the right back and floated in a teasing right footed cross across the goal-line, and Alex Song ones again sings Arsenal to all 3 points with a diving header. Relief around Emirates and homes of Arsenal fans worldwide. Albeit cruel on the away side for having worked so hard to keep Arsenal at bay, I must argue that for all the frustration the home team and fans endured, plus dominating the shot count and ball possession, the win was very much deserved. It's 1 nil to the Arsenal.

MAN OF THE MATCH :
Gael Clichy. The French left back once again put in a great shift for the Gunners, running tirelessly from box to box when called upon. Besides unmatched stamina, Clichy also possessed the presence of mind and the composure to beat an opponent before picking out Alex Song with a pinpoint cross to score the only goal of the game. Arsene Wenger will be delighted with the effort of his left back, as will the Arsenal faithful if he strings in more performances like this. It's just what we need more of, crosses from wide areas.

ARSENAL VERDICT :

The Gunners disappointed in more ways then one. Their free flowing football didn't bring about goals in the first half and sometimes they overplay for their own good. However they had to winning mentality to seek out a goal before added time and that is where I believe they have matured. Also, having lost points at home to West Brom, Arsenal showed that they needed to win the so called target practice teams if they are to be seen as title challengers and with this win no one can count them out now. Fabregas looks to be at his best again with Nasri already going through the form of his life with 7 goals in 7 games. Moreover, greater news for all Gunners fans now that young prodigy and midfield maestro Jack Wilshere has sign a long term contract. With Robin van Persie and Thomas Vermaelan returning to first team action very soon, Arsenal do look likely to be firing on all cylinders to try and catch Chelsea come May next year.

WEST HAM VERDICT :

Manager Avram Grant must be absolutely disgusted. Not at his team who put in a great shift for 88 minutes, but how they conceded the goal when they look like they were going to get a valuable point. Let's be clear though, West Ham were still outplayed and outpossessed the entire match but Robert Green had his best game of the season for them in goal so far. If he can continue his excellent saves in goal, there is no reason why they can't be out of the bottom three by Christmas. But reality check in progress, the Hammers are rooted to the bottom of the league. Grant needs to change their mentality and get his hardworking team to create chances, and score the goals. Or else it spells the end of his career as manager and the end of Premier League football for the proud Hammers.

FIFA 11 vs. PES 11

Not scoring goals, not winning games, your team lies at the bottom of the Barclay's Premier League. As a fan, you can do nothing but watch how the fortune of your supported team pans out before your eyes. However, as a gamer you get to change all that. Football games on all consoles have had only two giant franchises competing against each other for the past 8-9 years, each trying to cancel the other out with new input and better game-play to attract fans of all ages. The two I'm talking about is none other than Japan and Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer series and EA Sports's FIFA franchise. Last years games from the two have garnered critical acclaim from gaming gurus worldwide, and the winner with a score of 9.0 was FIFA10. PES10 did have some major changes from it's previous year but it wasn't substantial enough to win the head to head with FIFA10. Moving on to this year's games, I'm here to tell you about the pros and cons of both games so as to help you gamers out there decide for yourselves which game you'd prefer. Let's start by looking at FIFA 11.

First and foremost, the cover. We have Carlos Vela of Arsenal FC, Kaka of Real Madrid, and urm. Landon Donavan from the USA. That was a weird inclusion, but fairly obvious choice considering how the yank helped USA got as far as they did during this year's World Cup Finals. Enough about the cover, let's move on to the pros and cons.

PROS

1. 360 Degree Dribbling is simply the best player control system on planet earth. It gives you 100% percent control of your player.

2. Breathtaking visuals and loads of improvement to stadium art, fans reactions and noise. Plus, the legendary commentary team of Martin Tyler and Andy Gray makes it's return again.

3. Virtual Pro returns with much more personalized customization which adds depth and reality to your pro.

4. Manager mode is more in depth now that it combines career mode into 3 ; As a player ( you play as your virtual pro), a manager and a player-manager ( you get to manage your team and have the choice to take part in crucial matches ).

5. Fluent loading time and game speed keeps you hooked for hours.

6. Multiplayer is AWESOME. I've got 3-4 good friends who can testify to that. ( Game nights are more awesome now )

CONS

1. Opponent AI glitches. Sometimes it may seem that on Pro and World Class difficulty, you can never tackle your opponent and when you do, it's a foul. Also, you lose the ball as easily as juggling and egg on oily hands.

2. Music choices could have been much better.

So the current score for FIFA 11 on Gamespot is 9.0, but I'm giving it an 8.5. Sure there is no doubting that FIFA11 is the best football game on the planet right now, but if they tweak the lil glitches and make it more in depth, there's no stopping them now, or in the years to come.

Okay, let's take a look at the challenger.

Right. Die hard Pro Evo fans might want to stop reading here. This is going to be a roadkill session. Let me get a few things straight. If you've known me close enough since 2004, I have been an avid Pro Evo fan because I loved the fast flowing game-play it offered. It wasn't even second nature to me. I knew it like it was in my dna. I could score a 25 yard screamer with my eyes closed. Editing and creating players added to the hours of fun I had with Pro Evo. But that was the past. When Pro Evo 8 came out, I remembered I was very much let down by the poor change of emphasis. Game-play was sacrificed for gloss and beauty. Players very much looked like their real life counterparts, but didn't play like them at all. And that was the moment when I broke of all loyalties to go pro FIFA. Never regretted. Anyway, let's jump in to the pros and cons of PES 11.

PROS

1. Player visuals are stunning, near perfect.

2. Stadiums are well designed, and fan atmosphere does gives you chills.

3. Improved menu preface.

4. Better choices of leagues, masterleagues and tournament modes.

5. Goal celebrations look like the real thing.

CONS

1. Game-play is horrible. Passes go astray easily, shots can be skied for no damn reason ( Thierry Henry blew over a shot from 1o yards. LOGIC PLEASE? ), tackling is notoriously difficult, which greatly reduces the FUN element.

2. Lack of Team Licensing from the Premier League. Only Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspurs have been licensed. The other 18 teams are downright pathetic. Arsenal go by the name 'North London Reds', and the kits are lousy. Other leagues like Serie A and La Liga are well licensed though.

3. Commentary is LAME OMG. Sorry John Champion, but it seems to me like you lent your voice to the game just for the bloody money, so, you suck.

4. Multiplayer is horrendous. I've got 3-4 good friends who can testify to that.

Ratings from Gamespot for PES 11 is 8.0 but I'm giving it a 6.5 simply because it's bitterly disappointing. Credits to them for upping every other aspect of the game, but they let themselves and us the fans down where it mattered most.

And there you have it. A short yet comprehensive look at both the games this year, and there is only one clear cut winner. FIFA 11 wins the tie hands down and all guns blazing, and I hope that you gamers have a better knowledge of what you want and what to expect from your favourite footy games. This Morning 28th October.

This morning I woke up twice, at 3am and at 6am for an 8am class that was non existent.

This morning Arsenal beat Newcastle United 4 goals to nil at St. James Park in the League Cup. ( Which was why my alarm was ringing at 3am but I handsomely smothered it. )

This morning I realized that 2 (TWO) Deli Nasi Lemaks isn't sufficient enough to satisfy my early morning hunger.

This morning I realized that I desperately need new clothes. Not to mention new socks, shoes and everything else too.

This morning I noticed that I had greatly reduce hair shampoo time.

This morning I am not looking forward to the ECS LT cause it's boring shit.

This morning, I'll keep thinking about the Amazing Race during Commfest tomorrow and I hope we win it to bag the 1 grand.

This morning tells me how nice it is to have internet access wherever I bloody hell go.

The Grinding Halt

I shouldn't be feeling hard done by it, but I am. She's right, why can't it be normal. I don't know, but I do have myself to blame for the start of it all. Loving is one thing, but loving the wrong way seems to be the proper term for this current predicament. So what do I do from here? Call for a change? Start everything from over? Forget you ever went down the wrong way and did something you shouldn't have? Well yes and no, cause somethings I did, I can never take back. I'll need to take a few days or weeks to sort my head out.

Not Feeling It.

Very disturbed sleep again last night. For whatever reason, I was dreaming about my Mt. Ledang certificate. That's weird. Or maybe it's a sign of some sort. Woke up around 3am, wondered why, and went back to sleep. Woke up and 4plus again, and I got pretty fed up so I stayed awake. Went back to sleep again around 9, and woke up at 1pm. This nonsense really has got to stop. I'm starting classes again this Wednesday, and I seriously doubt I'll be able to rotate back to my normal sleeptime. I'll definitely try, though. I like sleeping late =)

Watched a movie during lunch, and I found it pretty interesting. Yet another movie adoption from a novel.

Yeah I was glued to the screen the entire movie. What got me was the story, yeah it's futuristic, the world as we know it ran out of everything thanks to war, and mankind now lives underground in a city lit only by a generator. But soon, the generator starts fucking up and the city is in danger of blacking out forever, so it's up to two kids ( who's fathers had a background that's rather interesting to the story) to find a way out, as the mayor is a useless piece of shit. Yup I won't spoil the rest. Watch the repeat on 413. The cast is pretty good too. From Bill Murray to Tim Robbins ( Shawshank! =D), it's not a box office hit, but it does make you think about our world more. Not that I do of course. Haha. Cheers.

Can't find the right words at the moment, but I can say that things always happen to set me back in ways I would never have imagined.

Bright side is, no more leisure time to spend at home, it's back to college this week. Help keeps the mind off other things too, which always helps.

I use to be able to handle this kinda thing pretty okay, but now I just can't stand it anymore. Sorry

The Finish Line

Was in sight, and now it's crossed. Over. A semester we all want to forget i'm sure,

thanks to all the shit that we've been put through by one asshole with a bulbous head. Hopes no other institute will take him in. What a lousy lecturer. Anyway, enough about him. It's been endless talk of murdering him all summer.

How have I been spending the break? Well , I've just been reading and playing FIFA10. Nothing much for now, and the boredom is getting to me. Waiting for friends to come back from distant places to carry out our random trips here and there. And meantime musically, waiting for the other guys of the band to plan rehearsals and get back to me. We'll see how that pans out. And somewhere in the back of my mind I am seriously considering my mum's offer of working at this ' joint', paying me RM 8.50 and hour. I like. I'll dwell on it for a couple of days.

Here's what I just finished reading.

I'm a huge Crichton fan. For those who don't know him, he's the guy who wrote these brilliant novels (which later on got turned into film). Congo, The Andromeda Strain, Prey, Jurassic Park, and The Lost World, just to name a few. Pirate Latitudes is not his best, but it definitely is worth a read, if you're into sea adventure and pirates. The research he did about the 16th century in this book is phenomenal. I enjoyed it and I'll give it 4 out of 5.

And, I'm currently reading this.

I'm such a war junkie. The book is all about the 101st Airborne, of Easy Company and how they fared in the war, from the start of training to the end of the war. I'm almost halfway, and it's brilliant stuff.

I don't usually say this, but I'm actually in a very good mood. All that studying for IMC done prior to the test was well worth it. Those three past year papers? Well thank god I spotted a pattern, and hey, lady luck smiles! Carbon copy of questions showed up in section A. B and C weren't bad either. So now I know my secret weapon. Question is, will I be able to replicate that effort for MMH? I sure as hell hope so. Time to get started.

Ahh yes. Finals is upon us. Well, it already started for the rest, cause I'm exempted from Malaysian Studies =D. So how have I been spending my weekend? Let's see. Studying notes from IMC, check. Reading Stanley J. Baran's IMC Text? Check. Doing past year IMC Papers? Check. I'm pretty proud of myself really. That's a lot effort put into being the comeback kid of the semester =)

Did THREE papers in the space of 16 hours. I rock.

Oh and I have chosen my warrior to represent me this finals. It has always been my loyal veteran, the Pilot G2. I now proudly unveil my warrior. LMAO

On to music, progress for recording has been hampered by inconsistent, unenthusiastic and sometimes assholic bandmates, but ahh well it's all part of the trade and fun I guess. But I've made quite a few friends while doing my PR work, and among them is Janice and the Supertank, a modern acoustic/pop folk band. They're pretty awesome people. So check them out! They appeared on TV3 for a performance too, definitely a band on the rise.

Moving on to sports now, and ahhh fuck the world cup. Let's talk about next season in the EPL and Arsenal! Wenger reinforced the attack with Chamakh. The defense with...erm i forgot his name. But we do need more personnel, without changing the main core of the team. I like our chances now. And I love this pic that i stole the Arsenal website. Taking a break from studying IMC slides to blog about something I saw in Summit earlier. These days, we take pics in insane amounts, videos likewise. The way I see it, everyone has a DSLR. Nearly 1 in every 3 friends has one. They asked me if I'm going to get mine. Well even if I wanted to, it's just way too expensive, and there is no way I or my mum and sis could cough up sums that go up to about RM5k. Nuts.

My sis bought this Cannon Digital Ixus 80Is last year, and I've been using it to take pics, vids and even record acoustic songs. Gosh I wish I had a job and a good income. Few things I need to buy and I'm going to add this piece of lil' brilliance to the list! I found a new handheld HD Camcorder/Pic taker that I want to invest in for myself and my band, so I can return the Cannon to my sis =)

Presenting the new Sony Bloggie MHS-CM5

This thing is so damn cool, it blew my mind first time I saw it. The features are pretty cool, compared to most other handycams, this one has a 5X Optical zoom, which is rad. Main interface is so damn simple to use. Open the LCD Screen to use, and then just click either of 3 Buttons, Play for playback, Record for shooting pics and taking vids, and Menu. The Bloggie is pretty small and compact, about the size of an Iphone at minimum, so it fits into most pockets and almost all small bags. Perfect for me and my college/wild lifestyle of course. The reason why they call it a Bloggie is because of it's instant way you can transfer pictures and videos to the net. Here's the best part. With the Bloggie, there is no mess of wires and stuff. It has an in-built USB connector, like such.

This makes transferring pics and vids such a breeze, that I can even do it in college on the spot. Genius. So it'll look like this when its connected. Keep your eyes on the blue bloggie to the left.

What else can I say about this pocket lifestyle companion? Although the bloggie doesn't come with any memory card, SD cards and Sony Memory Stick Duos are compatible. Which means the current memory card that the Cannon cam is using can be used too. It also has AV and HDTV ports to connect to tv's and HD tv's which is a huge plus.

So yeah I've pretty much made up my mind to get this one. Price? It ranges from RM800-1000. So bloody worth it i tell you. Well it's not that easy to get in my case, but give me a few months and I'll probably own this baby by then =)

NS Era Revisited

The planning was going on for months. Tough decisions regarding the venue, the date, the time and the awaiting of confirmation from the attendees did take it's toll on some. Julian has been busting his ass trying to connect everyone, and his sidekick Debbie has played an arduous and tremendous part in arranging the RSVP notes to everyone concerned. And then we already knew, that those who gave a damn replying, were the solitary ones who would be coming. And my guesses were right! The cozy company I had for lunch with me today would be non other than 3/4 of the people that made up the infamous ' PI/NIgger' Unit from K1,S5 2008.

I love you guys. Thanks for making it happen =)

Before we get to that. Let's take a look at some of the guests from this particular banquet back in the NS heyday. Some have changed, while others the same.

THE NS YEAR.

In the beginning, there was Adrian and Julian. Two people who never knew anybody, they fished around, and everything started coagulating when they met Jinn and Jamie ( no fair, they already knew each other for a long time ) and things kicked off.

And then, there was Debbie. Who now works as the gang's PR.

Then, Julian met a priest in the making. Father Andrew, who would enlighten us always.

And then, Adrian would drag in his good dorm friend WeiKian into the fold. The ever smiling WeiKian =D

And thus, the Nigger Revolution begun.

Fast forward two years. Here we are. Barely having time for each other, caught up with work, studies, relationship, music, finances, family and etc. But for just 3 humble hours, it felt as if the world stopped for a moment to give us time to catch up =)

Camp was fun. It gets boring year after year, but it's still fun carrying out facilitating duties.

Shoutout to the SPA committee. You guys absolutely rule. I remembered from the first day we got started, it was fun as hell. To our first screwing. To my demise. To certain inner conflicts. Well, it's all over now. And the feedback from all who went to watch the play, you guys deserve all the credit. Congratulations you guys, cast included, and we should take pride in knowing that majority of us are classmates, and you did our course and college proud! =D. We're free to party now. Like Rockstars.

Finals is around the corner, and revision should begin shortly. One last report and presentation to go, and then it's all over. So about 3-4 Thursdays ago, I took the girls(Oli,Manda & Rose) out to lunch at pyramid since I had the car which was still new at the time. We couldn't decide where to eat, and ended up eating Sakae Sushi. Amanda is not a fan of sushi but hey, we made her try new stuffs and turns out she likes the octopus. Wahaha. After lunch we just made it in time for class, and luckily we had our notes printed our for us. Sweet =)

Such joy. Having to eat my dinners alone. From now on I guess I'll be having my meal times all by myself. Great family time. Anyway, fucked up things aside, it's a real shame that June has to be packed with all these freaking assignments, and there's also the studying for finals which I am yet to tuck myself fully into. Sigh.

Bright side, a forest retreat beckons. Going to facilitate school kids again, which is what my batch of high school grads are good at i guess, because they just keep calling us back. I know I'll be missing SPA's play, so I wish them all the best, and the play is gonna rock everyone who owns a ticket =) I'll also be missing out on 3 days of report writing, presentation preparation and of course studying. Bummer? Not really. Though I must remind myself that things MUST seriously pick up after camp.

Can't help but think of how I'll spend my holidays after sem. So many things to do, so little time, so little money. Gosh, money! Fucking depressing talking about it. Oh well. There's recording to look forward to, and everything else with the bandmates, the classmates, the ex NS mates, and the girlfriend. We'll see what happens.

Wanna know what I like about Thursdays this semester? The 3-hour break. We've decided that whoever drives on Thursday would bring the gang out to Pyramid for lunch and what not.

Last week, we had Korean food. Oli's idea. I'm no fan, but Baskin Robbins soooo made up for it. And I also recently discovered that I love coconut flavoured Ice Creams =)

Okay, let's now bore you with some recent Black Light Banquet updates. A few weeks ago, received a call from sis that her friend at Y!Mag needs a band to fill in their indie music session slot at the Youth'10. Big big big opportunity, I couldn't say no. Drummer vacancy wasn't a problem, we had James Lim fill in and he didn't dissapoint. Overall, we had a great show. I would now take the opportunity to show you the work of our band's official photographer, Hoong who made the trip with us.

Let's talk about the semester. Malaysian Media History and ECS2 are boring as shit. No offence to the lecturer, he's trying his utmost best to get our attention but it's a case of epic fail. The assignments are of a similar caliber too. But besides all the boredom and frustration, i can always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always rely on my awesome friends to make it all soooooo much more bearable. I love you guys, and you know who you people are! =)

Let's start with some pictures. First and foremost, Amanda's birthday, which we celebrated at TGIF and had her stand on the chair and act a fool ( thanks to Chia Ling who was working there that helped me set it up), and LOL it was so embarrassing for her. All the better.

And next, we show you how communication students uses the webcam for all the right reasons. Haha I can remember the pain on Danesh's face when we were taking hundreds of pictures on his laptop. Of course I can't fit all in here, here are a few I picked randomly. Told you the semester wasn't so bad XD. This is pretty much what we do in between classes and class breaks.

Flavor of the Week 6/2/2010

G'd morning world! =)

Well finally it's time for a proper update. The past week or so have been spent rushing assignments and studying for the midterm exams. Foundation is such a rush, but it's good fun though, we ain't complaining. The post below this was all pictures, and I think this might be similar. So, if you're not a picture type person, urhm. You need to get a life. lol just kidding. So anyway, we start with Thurai and the Gardens! So Beng, Kev and I took a drive down to megamall to visit Thurai who was working there as a program coordinator( slave labor work). We had to park at the Gardens cause midvalley was fucking full, but the best part about parking at the Gardens was this super cooling air-vent at the rooftop parking stairway. It was super duper wooper cold, it reminded me of bukit botak at Mt. Tahan. Miss that place.

Yup, we just had to take a picture, so I'll remember exactly where to find it the next time I go the Gardens. Hahaha. Moving on, rather randomly, I just got back from the market at ss15. Mum wanted to cook today, and I got dragged along, but just to sit in the car cause mum loves to double park. But all in the good favor of her delicious steamed pork ribs with chillies, asparagus and other good stuff. Yum.

Next! Apple's new iPad. HAHAHAHA yeah I was like what the fuck? But after watching the commercial on tv and net, I calmed down as I finally understood. Personally, I think it's cool, but seriously not worth the money. It's just like an over-sized iPod Touch( ipodtouch rawks.) that can't do nothing extra nor special. Anyways, that won't stop the world, or me and my friends from making nasty IPAD jokes. lmao. Here's a few cool ones.

What's cooler than having iMac G5's in the media hub? Well, nothing tops that to be honest. So after I.T exams, some went to the library to finish up assignments, some went to pyramid for ice-skating, and the balance went for lunch. Shaun, Danesh, Melvyn, Rei and myself decided to finish up our assignment at the media hub. We ended up having more fun than intended. Faiqah was there, and she dragged us all into taking loadsa pictures from the photo stretch thingy on the iMac. Laughed like shit man. Some of the pics were hilarious. Here's the thing about being in foundation. Everything is compressed into 7 weeks. Lectures and tutorials are rushed, and assignments come down upon us like the fucking rain this January. Not that I've got a problem with it, just that i'm trying to convince myself that I can actually pull through. I know I can. Lol. Next monday, 3 assignments are due, and theres both IHC and ECS exams. Wonderful. Well, i'm currently studying and at the same time, moving songs from itunes into my ipod, putting pictures in the pod, on youtube, fb, checking blackboard 7 and finishing my movie review assignment. Multitasking is serious business. Oh and I nearly forgot to mention, I cut my hair for a second time in 2 days. Hahaha the mamak fucked up on the first time, making me look like some native from the forest. I was like, fuck it, i'm reverting back to the high school me. And so yeah. Short hair, excessive moving rubber, and a really cool breeze. I do miss the long hair a lil' bit though. Made me look real different. Oh well. Jyen's been pestering me to lose since ages, and now I finally have =)

Anyways. Danesh, Melv, Rei, Aud, Ahmad and I decided to stay back after class today to work on the Human Comms group assignment. Since us the group 2 students finish at 3pm, the others went to AQ to play pool. And that's where we planned to do our work. Turned out to be a bad choice. Hahahaha the majority of them got distracted for a little too long, oh well, Danesh and I finished the base for most of the assignments already. So now I'm off to complete the rest. Laters.

And I have seen , heard, and done enough to convince myself that this is it. This is what I want to be doing. And with whom I'm doing them with, is just a bonus =)

Anyway, let's dive straight into the action. First up, the Koreans and their party. Well, up till now, I never really knew what Korean people were like. Reality is, those we met, are friendly and really nice. So since their alpha dog Enoch invited us to this outing when we had lunch with them, we all decided to go, including Hash, who is a Muslim. It turned out to be an interesting event, and a new experience for most.

Hash and Audrey drove a bunch of us to the KTM station in Kelana Jaya, where we hopped on the train to Taman Bahagia, where they would meet us and lead us to the First Baptist Church.

Well that was fun. Now, moving on to more ' massive and marinating matters' . The party on the 20/1/2010 was okay. For one, the performances were lame and all, but yeah what ever. Invite mass comm students, and we'll make it awesome for you X) I shall now mention to you that i actually won a fucking musical chair game. LOL. Like, for the first time in 20 years. hahahaha. Thanks to FIMC for screaming like nutters. But hey, in the end, I brought home the prize of a Sunsilk Anti-Dandruff shampoo yo! LMFAO. Before we went to the lakeside campus however, we spent so much time at the mamak, and at a-q playing pool. Gosh, somethings never change =)

College 2010. Nothing like what I expected. The first week was less hectic, but the friends were always the same =) lovable. So group 1 was to be balanced, while group 2 was to be, erm. 90% girls. Anyway, things have started brightly, and I'm slowly starting to enjoy things again. And the new people I've met like Audrey, is actually related to Divanesh, Satheesh and Ben! What a small world. And then there's Yi Ching aka Rei Armani( just found out she and jyen knows each other! ), and you'll find out why in a moment. Subjects are interesting, and oh today, we had lunch with a bunch of foreign exchange students from South Korea who were gonna be here for ten days. They even invited us to their party this saturday. Awesome and nice of them. Cara and Rei actually thought them how to eat cili padi during lunch..hahahaha!

Other than that, I can still hear Dr. Vijaya lecturing about " coherence". lolol. Anyway, we watched a movie during IHC today, the Shawshank Redemption. Awesome movie. I have a good feeling our assignment is gonna be based on it. As for ESC, our assignment is to fucking DO A REVIEW ON TWILIGHT THE MOVIE, LIKE WHAT THE FUCK! Half of us in class moaned and bemoaned to the Dr when she relayed the news. Since I'm in the same group Aud, I'll let the girls do most of the work when they're done talking about Jacob Black. pui.

It's still hard to soak in that i'm 20. No longer a teenager, and I've gone through two decades of life. Thursday was simply fantastic. From start to finish the wishes came flooding through, friends, relatives, people who I've not kept in touch with, and even the ones I'm not close to. I just want to say thanks for making my 20th a lilttle bit that special. I had spent the day with Jyen, and she made it extra extra special. She got me a nike-fit jog cap too, which I'll post up in abit. For dinner, as a family we went to Zanmai for jap. Now, friday proved to be awesome. See, Wednesday night Kev smsed and asked me to keep friday night free, for they ( the usual band of bros ) were going to take me out. So, i was awoken from my nap ( having forgotten the sms ), got ready, and not knowing where dinner was, took a wild drive all the way to Megamall. In my mind, i knew they were gonna take me to Chilies, cause the past few outings at KLCC, I made it quite clear that Chilies was a special place, foodwise and more. So I did guess right. But what I didnt know was, this was pre-planned since Monday, and hidden somewhere in there was the gang consisting of Chee Yan, Hilmi, Marli, Aud, Amanda, Guat Yee, Violet, and Lei Wei. All complete with a cute cake with two candles, and whiskey chocs as present. I was in for the shock of the new decade. Gosh I love you guys. =)

So dinner it was, I didn't have to pay, which I do feel bad for, but grateful. After dinner, we took pictures galore, and hanged out at the Gardens, then on to Starbucks, and back home to complete a birthday outing i quite never had before in 19 years. Again, thanks guys and girls. =) So i'm going to let the tons and tons of pictures entertain you. Or not.

I think I've figured it out. The key to what I'm looking for is initiative. I'd have taken them 10/10 times had I been given the chance. But no. As always, it's not up to me. And I'd have done anything for a clear cut chance to get what I want. I wish I could make people see the gaps and holes that might have filled up differently had I been able to make a choice for myself too. First chance for 2010? Haha well what did you expect? It went out the window, wasted. I knew it was anyway. I didn't even need to ask. It was predictable. If this is what 2010 is shaping up to be, then fts. I'll prep myself for a fucked up year. But I'm not gonna stand for that. If people are gutless to take that step, I'll fucking make my own initiatives. I think its time for me to go out there and live life like i used to. Walk on water instead of ground. Scream instead of speak. Break all the rules. Careless, and fearless, and no strings to hold me back. Again, it's all about initiatives. So people ; either back and fight for the shit you want, or it's too bad. I know one thing. I'm fucking tired of waiting around, for the things I want to make an appearance. Well, I'm not gonna wait anymore.

Well, dinner actually. But I wanted to inject some form of drama at the title. Our last meal of the year was to be a posh one, and the three of us, consisting of Thurai, Kevin, and yours truly decided to dine at Victoria's Station. We knew the standard had dropped, and service was going to be fucking lame, but the price did drop with it. So we got there, to find the place was nearly a full house, but we left with our belly's satisfied. Our first meal of 2010 would be Dim Sums, but more on that in another post. =)

A very good morning to you, reader. If you're reading this in the morning, and if not, hahaha fuck it. So! Had a few random pictures I felt like posting up, cause this feeling that December 09 is ending just won't leave my head, and after watching 2 movies, and drinking 3 glasses of the blb cocktail, i still can't seem to sleep. So here I am updating my blog. I had TONS of pictures that I want to upload, but I like to keep things short. To the rare occasional reader, all the pics are out there if you know where to look. To the gang, if any of you still don't know, yes you have all been tagged. =)

Moving along now, it's 6.29 am on my laptop. Pretty early huh. Sigh a new year is on the horizon. The memories, good and bad of 09 still lingers. This feeling is confusing. Now i know what they meant by growing up. Soak it in kid. I keep telling myself that. Soak it in. Picture time! Narration provided for free too. Sometimes, nothing makes more sense to both boys and girls than taking pictures with the bathroom mirror. Let's face it. Fact does say we all do it. This instance, Hilmi wanted to use the loo during dinner. Havin seen the girls hog the toilet earlier ( yes all 5 of them at once ), the boys wanted to do the same. So once Hilmi got up, the joke started, and all of us followed. Hoong brought his camera in, and those that had finished peeing first got to be in this pic. Muahahaha. Lame, i know. Fuck i'm getting old.

One of the things I love about outings with my friends are the random moments that happen, and can only be captured and relived again in pictures. In most of our outings these days, everyone brings a camera to capture their own slice of memory. This was from Hoong's cam again. This pic clearly shows me staring at the price first before i order anything. hahaha! Bad habit i know, but what the fuck right? Again, we all do it. I also got attached to that oil light thing in the glass. Very pretty, and I took it and place it in front of me for the night =) The very last thing? I have never seen myself sit at a dining table in picture. And the table was glass, and transparent =D my everlast makes an appearance too.

This one is really about Thurai Arasan. Mr. Arasan Bond. The majority of our friendship was spent in years doing mundane prefect work, scouts responsibilities with Hang Tuah, and in later years, having fun after spm. We'd have been closer but he being in pilot academy which he now boasts graduation from, took him away for 18 months, and we only hung out on weekends. But us being us, the chemistry that all of us share with each other makes us click around whoever. This picture reminds me of all the good times we shared, and the common things we share too. Like, we both like black, and have a craving for good food, movies, and games. So here's to my macha, cheers mr. pilot!

This Christmas..

This Christmas, we tried to keep it simple. Everything turned out as planned, and I know she wouldn't want me to be bummed out by it this xmas, but xmas without jyen was a little difficult. I got by though, and now she's coming home tonight =)

So here's a recap of the month, and we start with the recent. As part of the Banquet Club's culinary adventure around the universe, this christmas the banquet club went to KL to pp.

Here's a real quick lowdown, cause i'm in a rush to go shower and sleep. The food was delicious, atmosphere cozy, and it's a great place to hang with your friends. It's a little over-priced, but in the heart of KL, it was expected. Here's a group photo after dinner. The club would like to thank Hoong for finding the place :) Further thanks to Kev, Hilmi, Ade, Carmen, Karen, Amanda, Vic, Jenny, Jared, Ewan, Belinda, Ken Yee, and Thurai for attending.

Now, backtracking to the earliest of the events, was the cocktail creation drinkorama held at my place. Well, we met our objective, and made a few addictive cocktails. Oh and here's a word of advice. Never underestimate the power of the lemon/lime fruit :P

And lastly, in between those two events, was the supposed genting trip which broke down cause of reasons to mundane to state, so we ended up going back to pd. But to a higher class pd thanks to Hilmi booking an executive chalet at the Legends Water Chalet with his mum's credit card..hahaha. But the place is awesome. The chalet is over the beach, and we can fish from our balcony, which was what we did. Good times.

Well, i would have added tons of pics from those events but i just can't do it. I wana keep it simple. And now that i'm done, it's time to reflect on what a year it has been. Good things has to end eh. What an awesome year. Thanks to jyen. thanks to my friends and family. thanks to me, being me. lmao wtv that meant. 2010. but before that. Jyen, come home quick. I'm not letting 09 end without u here. And without us having at least a few more sparkling moments.

Awee. Ok-so-so past few days. Not a long update, just letting everybody know I've been bored as fuck at home, while everyone was away. So? I did unexpected stuff. I guess. I think? It has been everything indulgence couldn't spell this past week. Let's start with the books then. After completing Arthas of the W.O.W series, I was in desperation and needing something to read. I did read Stephan King's Dreamcatcher, but it got so scary I had to stop, and go watch the movie on Youtube instead. Hahaha. Well, I've been writing too, but I'm no robot and I needed a break from it I suppose. So i think it was Jyen who told me that there was a book sale going on in summit, so I had to go check it out. I went twice already, and in overall bought 6 new books. ( 5 really, cause the last one is cocktail recipe book, more on that later ). So on the first day I went with Kev, we just scouted the books and the price, but later at mph, I went looking for a couple of books that I had listed down. The reviews for The Hunger Games and Halo : Cole Protocol were off the charts on Shelfari, so I just had to check it out for myself. On the second day, I took Jyen since she wanted to get a few books too, and it was fun browsing books. She thinks i'm girly cause I read girl-related novels. Oh well. lol. The rebates from the sale were insane. We bought a combined total of 8-9 books, and it cost us rm 60. It's frigging cheap. Books that are priced around rm 20-30, you could get at half price, and I bought a few that offered a 70% rebate. Book people, go check it out. You have until December the 6th.

As of now, I'm currently reading The Hunger Games, and it's very interesting. Best part is, it's a trilogy, and the movie is coming out sometime next year. Kinda reminds me of when I first read Twilight over a year and half ago. Little did I know the movies was coming out, but gosh did it suck balls. I hope THG will be a much better movie. =D

Moving on, I also bought that 500 cocktail encyclopedia thing. I love alcoholic drinks ( sorry mum, I just do ), and this is like a must have to my collection. I've always wanted to throw a cocktail party among my close friends, and now that brad has a brand new huge crib, we just might make that happen X) Maybe we'll make that sometime in December. But that would mean we'd have to go shopping for a variety of ingredients. Since i'm a bit hyper I'll list down the things I'm pretty sure we'll be needing.

So yeah, that's that for books. I'm gonna have my hands full with reading and writing these hols. Now on to the ice cweam. Went to have a few scoops with Kev, Yuffie and Sonia at Baskin Robbins. Gosh yuffie! No offence but your driving sucks. hahaha! And then we got our ice cweams, they all took single scoops while I had a double sundae thing, which was pretty delicious. Chit chat and laughed and laughed. Also realized I have a lot in common with Sonia. The last time I remembered her this open flowing and chatty was..the good charlotte concert back in 07. But even then she didn't talk much..Shy Person! X) She was ketua spotcheck in U4. Hahaha what a coincidence. So to end this post, here's the pics.
